Velvet Collar Fashion House has dressed the necks of the discerning since 1994, when Monsieur Alphonse Tufthaus stitched a bow tie from a curtain tassel and declared it ‘a beginning.’ It has been an ending for several curtains since.
Our atelier on Whisker Row employs 38 seamstresses, 12 pattern cutters and one very serious Burmese named Madame Tulle, who inspects every seam and says ‘no.’ We make couture collars and bow ties in velvet, silk, alpaca and anything else that shimmers. We have shown at 31 fashion weeks and been escorted from four.
We believe that a neck is a canvas, and that a canvas deserves a frame. Our slogan, in the old language, translates as ‘Please do not touch the collar.’
