I will say what the industry will not: the bell is a crutch. It announces what the silhouette should already declare. A cat in a flawless collar needs no jingle. The jingle is for those without presence, and for the birds, who have already won.
I am not suggesting an outright ban. I am suggesting a small, dignified fall into silence. In our Autumn collection, bells appear on exactly one look, and they are tiny, a mere 6 millimetres, tuned to the key of F sharp. The effect is not noise but a hush, a faint shimmer of metal like frost forming on a window pane. Anyone who disagrees is invited to sit in the corner and think about what they have done.
